Vacation To Thailand Videos 2010 2 of 6

Bookmark and Share

Here is Wan’s Thailand video number 2 of 6 to be produced.

Lots of Thai culture here. Elephants, Crocodiles, Buddha Temple, Thai Mall, Congested Traffic, Etc.  Hey.. They drive on the wrong side of the road over there.. LOL!

I am producing the SD clips at DVD-HQ with Cyberlink Powerdirector 8 Ultra and limiting the time to around 30 minutes each to save on server load. This one ended up being 1.9MB as an mpeg. It was converted to Flash Format using AVS Video Converter that brought the streaming size down to a more manageable 311MB.

If you missed the 1st video it’s here.  I plan on adding 1-2 each day until all 6 are produced. The total rendering and conversion time is about 3 hours each. Check my short links on Twitter for the others if you cane here by search engine.

I would appreciate your thoughts and comments.. :)

I see that seeking beyond what is buffered in the timeline crashes the player. Do you know, is that lack of metadata in the video, the streaming server or the player causing the problem? I’m curious because I was never able to get the xmoov player working properly either. I think the problem is the player, I’m just wondering what your thoughts are. Unfortunately there isn’t much info at the xmoov website when it comes to troubleshooting the player.

Hi Bob. The meta injector i used aborted due to the length of that video, so it does not have any meta data in it. Don’t know if it was my computer not having enough memory or the size of the produced file.

I am rather pleased with Xmoov as a player and the server seems to work pretty well. It takes some time to start on longer movies. Shorties 10 minutes or less start instantly, but 30 minutes or longer take some time to start. Lorenzo Benjamin had tried to fix it but must have gave up. He must have stopped his development of the project because stream.xmoov.com has not been updated since 01/15/10.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve had good luck with the server part of Xmoov but I’ve struggled with the player in firefox. I have videos that are longer than 30 minutes, with metadata, in flv format. The player starts and works fine until you seek ahead of the buffer a couple times. I have the same problem with other players, some worse than others. I think it has as much to do with flash and firefox as anything else. Amazingly, this is one time when everything seems to actually work correctly in ie but not firefox;)

Anyway, you seem busy so I’ll let you be, thanks for the input and the interesting videos :)

Hey Bob.. Something happened to my setup and the videos stopped playing. Just seems weird that it just quit working.

I’m wondering if it has something to do with a recent Adobe Flash Player security update?

I forgot to update everyone on the server outage.

Apparently it was a web host problem. Eric Lorenzo responded immediately to my support question, but the site fixed itself overnight.

BTW: If anyone want’s to download the Xmoov Video Server? It is at http://stream.xmoov.com

Thank you, that wasreally interesting. I was born in Thailand in 1970 but my mother and I fled and came here to the UK. Honestly, I didnt care much about my Thai past until my mother died recently, now I’ve been trying to discover as much as I can. Seemed like cuisine was as good a place as any to start ! Anyway, I found a thai food recipe site here that your readers might be interested in too.
